A survey was conducted at the end of the 2010 school year to determine what were the staff technology needs at SHS. An additional survey was used to determine SmartBoard training needs and interest.
Results of this survey can be here.

Based on the survey results and dicussion forums, five main areas of tech instructional needs emerged:
  • SmartBoard and Notebook training (with instruction specific to discipline)
  • Web 2.0 applications, such as Wikis, Blogs, Glogs, Google Docs, etc.
  • Utilizing online databases, social networks (such as Shelfari, GoodReads, LibraryThing)
  • How to use Microsoft Office and all its capabilites (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • How to use digital media and devices, such as flip cameras and videostreaming

An email was sent to all staff members at the end of the 2010 school year to solicit interested staff members willing to volunteer as trainers in their area of interest and expertise. Courses were divided into 3 flights held throughout the school year, with 3 sessions in each flight. Through previous experience, it was determined that group participants would determine the direction of the subsequent sessions based on the interests of the group at the completion of the 1st session in each flight.

Staff members are reminded they must complete their SAM (Strategic Assessment Measurement) by November. Instructions are provided by clicking the link.
